The night it began

A pizza.
A pair of glasses.
A beginning.

Roxy arrived at Professor Vesper’s laboratory with a pizza. He was too absorbed in his chain experiment to notice the glasses hanging around his neck—or the rider who found them for him.

When the machine shrieked, Roxy stopped it. Vesper offered her a job. She agreed to one condition: his inventions would have to survive a real ride. That was the beginning of Evil Genius.

Film transcript

Roxy delivers a pizza to Vesper’s laboratory at night and rings the doorbell. Vesper buzzes her in without looking up from his chain experiment. Vesper: Put it over there, would you? He searches for his glasses, which hang around his neck. Vesper: I gotta find my glasses. I know they’re here somewhere. Roxy puts the glasses on his eyes. Roxy: Are you looking for these? Vesper finally sees her. Vesper: You wouldn’t happen to want a better job, would you? The chain rig screeches. Roxy moves the pizza clear and turns off the machine. Roxy: First condition: I test your inventions on a real ride.
